Should there be an end to Black History Month?

This article brought to light that many are considering that Black History Month should end. With a new African-American President should that historical event be considered an American achievement or African-American achievement? You decide.

I can really see how this is a quandary!

I don't have a problem with Black History Month but I do think all races should be taught and celebrated equally. What makes America so great is that we ARE many cultural differences blended together into one nation. We all have to learn to appreciate each persons uniqueness and individuality. If I do ever have kids, when they go to school, I would want them to have the opportunity to learn about each religion, race, color, gender and creed without discrimination.
Great article! Enjoyed reading it!

Why should it have to end...it's a *universal* fight, for autonomy, justice, freedom, equality...
Besides, I think there is still room for change and betterment - even with an African-American president.

It's a way of honoring the past, the victims and those who faught the fight...we must remember and honor the past if we want to avoid committing the same mistakes over and over again.

Hey Chris,

I had to look up that word "quandary". It is a state of uncertainty or perplexity, huh?!?
Too bad, and I thought we were all getting along. Ah well, that's what makes this country so beautiful, each and every individual gets to voice their opinion.
Thank you for your comment!
